Woke in VA. Got breakfast and packed the car. Decided to skip the caverns and just goto Shenadoah National Park & do some hiking. It is a pretty drive and we stop and do a fairly short hike up to a the top of one of the hills. It is a fun hike that involves so rock scrambling. We do a second hike to a waterfall. It is a nice hike but once you have seen the waterfalls of Yosemite all else seems trivial. It is very overcast and looks like it could rain any second. We have Indian food at a picnic area and head toward DC. This part of VA is very pretty. We drive north to a Trader Joes & Motel 6. Traffic on the loop is terrible. After doing our grocery shopping we head to the motel only to find they are booked. We call around only to find everything is booked. After call around 50 places for about an hour we finally find one on the other side of DC. Then I decided to surprise Holly and find a sushi place to eat dinner. We are then both surprised to find that the place is an all you can eat sushi buffet. We arrive around 20 mins. before they close but the women hosts tells us to just ask the sushi chef to make us anything we want that they don't have. The sushi is decent but the service is amazing. The hostess, who may also be the owner, is extremely nice. She makes suggestions of things we should try, talks about where we are from & actually puts her hand on my shoulder. This may not seem a big deal but very few strangers every touch me. In the end she even writes us directions to our hotel. It is amazing to find such genuinely nice people. She knew we were not from around there and that there was no reason so show us good service since we would never be back yet she went out of her way to be nice. We finally get to our hotel, resist the urge to watch part of six feet under and goto bed.
