Toto- I don't think we are in Brooklyn anymore.

Woke.  Got Beer in Albany.  Got to the venue around 3:30.  There is a bridge that connect the main lot to the lot by the entrance.  We got there late enough to be parked in the lot by the entrance.  All the spots  close to the bridge were reserved fro people who spend $20 to have VIP parking.  Since we were vending we figured the best spot would be on the bridge.  After a little scouting I managed to get the car parked right by the bridge in the VIP section.  I think one of the reasons I will miss tour is I have gotten good at it.  It is a shame I will no longer be using these skills.

We set up on the bridge that connects the 2 lots.  Crazy crowd on the bridge and we do well till it gets too crowded to even vend.  Holly goes in early to grab a poster.

The theater is beautiful.  It sits in a state park surround by trees.  Quite the contrast from Coney Island.  The pavilion had a balcony.  Very Strange.  We used fake stubs to get into the pavilion and had decent room  the whole show.

6-19-04 Set I
Reba Opener.  Lots of energy.  Jim follows and had the signs of a good rockin' show.  neither song really went anywhere.  Scents & Subtle Sounds appeared finally for the first time since last summer.  But gone was the intro.  I like the older versions much better.  Hope they bring the intro back.  Walls had a interesting jam after the normal jam section.  This was the highlight of the first set.

The crowd was way more respectful than Brooklyn.  Maybe because we were in the pavilion.

Set II
Song I Heard the Ocean Sing- First Repeat.  But they really blew this one apart.  19 mins. of some fairly intense improv.
Piper- Like last summer, Piper rose up this evening to become a huge improv vehicle.  Yet this Piper, unlike last summer, was full of very tight focus jams.  The Pipers of last summer feel into a pattern.  They would build for around 10-15 mins, fall apart then rebuild.  All around 25-30 mins, yet similar jams each time.  This one was different.  Many different sections with many musical peaks on different themes.  They never got lost like they did so often last summer.  Piper, after 33 mins, went pretty smoothly into Jibbo.  The set ended slow with limb X limb, Cavern & Velvet Sea encore.  Ran to the car during the encore.  The sound on the lawn was surprisingly clear.  Sold out of beer, drove back to Albany and got to sleep around 2am.
