Woke at 5am. A 7:15 flight out of Oakland. Got a ride from a friend who is watching Soren. Soren looked so confused to be left in the truck at the airport. Broke my heart.
On the plane I started to think about my plans to ask Holly to marry me at Coventry, the last Phish show. It started to drive me crazy since I did not know if she would say yes. She notices something is bothering me and asks what is wrong. I say nothing as I try to decided if I should just ask her now. Finally I can not take it anymore, I have to know. So there at 33,000 feet I ask Holly to marry me. She says nothing at first. She is clearly surprised and taken off guard. We talk for a few minutes about it and then she finally says yes! We both cry for a little bit then both have huge grins on our faces. The rest of the flight is a haze. I can not believe we will get married. It is funny but I tend to agonize over even the simplest decisions but I feel no anxiety over this. I know this is right.
Upon landing around 1:30 pm, we go to rent our car. They upgrade us to a full size SUV instead of the mini-SUV we requested. We check out the gas mileage and realize it will cost us around $50 more to get the full size. We decided the extra $50 is worth the extra room. We now have a ton of things to take care of, including calling the families and friends. We go to Costco to buy lemonade supplies, a cooler & water. Then to Target, a beer store & Trader Joes. We call both our parents while we are running all the errands. They both sound very happy for us. I call my best friend A. She almost cries. We finally get out of Chicago around 6pm.
We stop at a Brew Pub in Indy for dinner. Cool little place for Indy. The brewer even has a Phish sticker on one of his cabinets. We stay across the Kentucky boarder at a Motel 6. So begins our finally summer with Phish and my new life with Holly.
